Slewing Drive Maintenance Guide for Construction Machinery: Extend Life and Ensure Operational Safety
In the field of construction machinery, slewing drive, as the core component of the rotary positioning of the lifting arm, has become the first choice of equipment that needs to be stopped instantly by virtue of its self-locking advantage. However, most of the construction machinery in the dust, mud and water, high and low temperatures and other harsh working conditions for a long time, the slewing drive is prone to wear and tear of parts, jamming, abnormal noise and other failures, seriously affecting the operational efficiency and safety of the equipment. Do a good job of rotary drive maintenance, is to reduce the incidence of failure, extend the service life of the equipment is the key, specific can be carried out from the following aspects.
👉Daily inspection: timely detection of potential hazards
Daily inspection is the basis of rotary drive maintenance, to be carried out in stages before the start of the equipment, the operation, after the shutdown. Before starting, focus on checking whether the connecting bolts of the rotary drive are loose, if the bolts are found to have displacement or abnormal tightness, the torque spanner needs to be tightened immediately according to the torque value stipulated in the equipment manual, so as to prevent the loose bolts from leading to uneven force on the rotary drive and triggering deformation of the parts; at the same time, observe the seals to see whether they are intact, and if there is any cracking or aging of the sealing lips, or any scratching on the sealing surfaces, it is necessary to change the seals in a timely manner to avoid impurities entering the interior and damaging the gears and bearings. At the same time, observe whether the seals are in good condition; if the sealing lips are cracked, aged or the sealing surface is scratched, it is necessary to replace the seals in time to avoid the damage of gears and bearings caused by impurities entering the interior.
During operation, pay close attention to the operation status of the slewing drive. If the rotation of the lifting arm is stuck, the rotation speed decreases significantly, or accompanied by abnormal friction sound or metal impact sound, you should stop the machine immediately to check whether there are problems such as poor gear meshing and bearing damage. After stopping the machine, check the oil temperature of the slewing drive, under normal working condition, the oil temperature should be controlled at 30-80℃, if the oil temperature is too high, it is necessary to check whether the lubrication system is blocked and whether the heat dissipation device is normal to avoid high temperature accelerating the aging of parts.
👉Scientific lubrication: reduce component wear
Poor lubrication is one of the main causes of rotary drive failure, according to working conditions and equipment requirements to develop a scientific lubrication programme. First of all, choose the right lubricant, for dusty mines, construction conditions, should be used for anti-pollution ability of lithium grease; for wet water conservancy engineering equipment, the need to use waterproof grease, to avoid dilution of moisture lubricants lead to lubrication failure.
Secondly, strictly control the lubrication cycle and dosage. Under normal circumstances, the rotary drive every 50-100 hours of work to replenish the grease, every 500 hours of work to thoroughly clean the lubrication system and replace the new lubricant. When replenishing the grease, you need to clean the impurities around the grease injection port, and then slowly inject the grease through the grease gun until the grease overflows from the grease discharge port, to ensure that the internal parts are fully lubricated, and at the same time, avoid over-injection of grease to cause the oil temperature to rise.
👉Clean protection: isolate the impact of harsh environments
Under bad working conditions, dust, mud, water and other impurities are easy to invade the inside of the rotary drive, accelerating the wear of parts, so cleaning and protection is crucial. After each operation, a high-pressure water gun (pressure control below 0.8MPa to avoid damage to the seals) should be used to rinse the dirt and dust on the surface of the rotary drive, and focus on cleaning the debris around the seals to prevent the accumulation of impurities leading to seal failure.
For equipment that has been idle for a long time, apply anti-rust oil on the surface of the rotary drive and cover it with a waterproof plastic sheet to avoid rusting caused by contact between humid air and metal parts. In addition, regularly check the ventilation device of the rotary drive, if the ventilation holes are clogged, it will lead to increased internal pressure, destroying the sealing performance, you need to clean up the impurities in the ventilation holes in a timely manner to ensure that the ventilation is smooth.
👉Troubleshooting: timely repair, to avoid the expansion of the fault
If the rotary drive failure, you need to stop in time to repair, to avoid small faults evolve into big problems. When there is serious gear wear, bearing noise, etc., need to disassemble the rotary drive for maintenance, replacement of damaged parts, need to use the original spare parts, to ensure that the size and performance of the components to meet the requirements; assembly process, need to operate in strict accordance with the assembly process, control the bearing gap and gear mesh precision, to avoid secondary failure due to improper assembly.
After the maintenance is completed, it is necessary to carry out no-load test run and load test to observe whether the rotational flexibility and self-locking performance of the rotary drive are normal, and then put it into use after confirming that there is no abnormality. At the same time, the establishment of equipment maintenance files, record each maintenance and repair time, content, cause of failure and other information, to provide data support for subsequent maintenance, to achieve the full life cycle management of the rotary drive.
In short, the maintenance of the rotary drive needs to take into account the daily inspection, scientific lubrication, cleaning and protection and troubleshooting, through systematic maintenance measures, can effectively reduce the incidence of failures, to ensure the stable operation of construction machinery, and provide a strong support for the efficient promotion of engineering construction.
